A brief history of Volkswagen Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan was built using the platform of the VW Passat sedan model. Launched at the 2007 German International Motor Show, it was first produced at the VW plant in Wolfsburg, Germany and the Kaluga plant in Russia. The first-generation Volkswagen Tiguan offered an extensive range of specifications including six airbags, semi-automatic climate control, electric windows all-round, and electronically adjustable, heated mirrors. It also offered a spacious and comfortable interior, setting a great standard for what drivers could expect from a decent off-roader family vehicle.
The model received a minor facelift in 2011, featuring new headlight and bumper designs with much of the focus placed on the rear design of the vehicle. The second-generation VW Tiguan was launched in 2016 and featured a complete redesign and upgraded specifications. The latest generation, the Tiguan Allspace, has an extended wheelbase, offering drivers more interior space thanks to a larger body.

Volkswagen Tiguan details
In many ways, the latest VW Tiguan is more spaceship than off-roader, with an interactive display dominating the interior. Rather than the traditional rev and speed counter, the entire dashboard is now an interactive system which displays all the details you might want, from speed to navigation. The nifty head-up display reflects information onto the windscreen so you can drive without having to take your eyes off the road. The Tiguan also offers voice control and adaptive cruise control, enabling you to cruise while the car automatically adjusts its speed in relation to other road users. The baseline VW Tiguan TSI Trendline 2WD BMT DSG offers 110 kw and 250 Nm of torque from its 1.4 L petrol engine. It produces 162 g/km of CO2 emissions and has a combined fuel cycle of 6.8 L/100 km.

Volkswagen Tiguan insurance
Volkswagen Insurance Services are available to VW owners, offering a range of car insurance products ranging from customer protection plans to shortfall payment solutions. Unfortunately, Volkswagen is considered to be a high theft risk in South Africa by the Ctrack vehicle risk report, which could raise your monthly car insurance premiums. That doesn't mean you can't find a great deal on car cover for your VW Tiguan though.
